Run by a committed volunteer team consisting of trustees, officers and its members
the Proventus Project works to provide unbiased information enabling people to make
informed choices when they are fighting against autoimmune, neurological and inflammatory
diseases, as well as wellness, diet and rehabilitation difficulties. Also, most importantly,
it works to include an often overlooked and often ignored important source of information
which comes from people who have a chronic condition? Who else has more “hands on”
experience of the daily toil combating the symptoms of illness? Many of these people
do not have a voice and have become hidden within our society.
Proventus works towards overcoming unhelpful divisions that can exist between academics,
scientists, health professionals, lay enthusiasts, alternative therapists and health
charities and we remain hopeful that a spirit of tolerance and willingness to listen
and learn, on all sides, emerges from the work we do?
Proventus considers the different audience-types and how their concerns may influence
its work and understands that many will seek information for their own needs. However
the mere existence of such work and subsequent communication and interaction, presupposes
that one person might be more interested than another in one particular topic, from
which we hope that more independent self-help groups will emerge.
Proventus attempts to be a well informed listening organisation and be highly focused
on the day to day problems many endure.
Commercial sponsorship of health-related research and information is, of course,
not an issue of concern uniquely to Proventus. Any perception that for-profit commercial
organisations, notably but not exclusively:
The Pharmaceutical Industry.
Medical device manufacturers.
Supplement manufacturers or providers.
Private practice health professionals
Or other non profit organisations (charities and pressure groups)
If they were able to influence or alter the information provided by and the work
undertaken by Proventus, it would damage our reputation for impartiality and the
questioning efforts we make.
Note - Although the Internet is used by many as a source of information it is also
a great source of abuse always double check any information you seek and cross check
